We’re very grateful to have the sonic masterpiece that is @suenabien.soundsystem join us and power the Eden tent this year. Suena Bien is the work of Carlos Figueroa, Oli Evans, and a group of like-minded friends, all with a love of good music being heard properly. Carlos was instrumental in the making of Floating Points’ Sunflower Sound System and that experience fed into the design and build of Suena Bien. With an added element of what can only be described as pure artistic joy, this makes for a unique piece of audio sculpture. The Spirit of Eden team heard it being road tested by @normanjaymbe a few weeks ago at their sold out night at Stanley Hall. If Norman’s a fan, that’s good enough for us!

BROCKFEST UPDATE! Suena Bien are building an extra bass unit for BROCKFEST free festival on 14th September featuring an 18 inch sub. Suena Bien designers Carlos Figueroa and Oli Evans say “We want to improve the overall sound by relaxing the deeper bass on the two 15inch speakers in the tower units. The extra bass unit will allow us to project sound right down and below the range of the human ear. But that’s important. You’ve got to ‘feel’ the bass.” Carlos also helped build ‘Sunflower Sound System’ - a 6 tower speaker system used at the Silver Hayes area of Glastonbury this year in collaboration with British DJ Floating Points and sound engineer Michael Parker. You can read more about this system in dzeen’s online magazine (posted on 27/6). BROCKFEST is a free music festival and a celebration of musical journeys of the artists who’ve sharpened their musical skill & stagecraft at JOM Junior & Youth Open Mics across 8 years. Our budget for BROCKFEST is £0 - so it’s put together with favours and kindness - most of which money can’t buy.
